Concrete Dome homes are being looked at. We believe that we can purchase the equipment for about $50,000. We can then send residents to school to learn the construction technology.
These homes can be constructed by
us for about $30,000 each, which is comparable to the stick houses planned.
They have high insulation properties and have life spans of up to 100 years and
are maintenance free.
The problem with building dome homes are:
· We are unfamiliar with the technology,
· Errors can be unforgiving,
· We do not know who to train,
· Skilled workers will be required.
Because of the above problems, it
might be best to build the first 50 homes with conventional stick framing that
novices can learn quickly.
Then select a few residents to
send to school and gradually shift over to dome homes as training and equipment
allows.
